AI audit for local service businesses

    By Wylie Stevens, RN

An AI audit is a close look at how work moves through your business before you buy any AI tool. It answers three questions. Where do you lose hours and jobs today? Which of those leaks can software help with? In what order should you fix them?

I built the AI Peak Audit for local service businesses: contractors, home service companies, and small healthcare and aesthetic practices. Most owners I talk with have been pitched an AI receptionist, a chatbot, or a new CRM. Few have been asked what actually breaks in their week.

    Why audit before you buy

A tool repeats whatever process you give it. If a lead form feeds a shared inbox that nobody owns, an AI tool will fill that inbox faster. If estimates sit in a truck for three days, a new CRM will store them neatly while they still sit.

The audit starts with the work, not the software. Sometimes the answer is an AI tool. Sometimes it is a clear owner, one form instead of three, or a text template your office already has. The road map says which, and in what order.

    What the audit looks at

I look at three parts of the business and the tools that connect them.

    • Getting customers. Phone calls, voicemail, web forms, chat, social messages, and estimate requests. Who answers, how fast, and what happens after hours.
    • Doing the work. Scheduling, dispatch or the front desk, handoffs between office and field, job notes, and changes on the day.
    • Keeping customers. Invoices, review requests, maintenance or recall reminders, and reaching past customers who have gone quiet.
    • Tools and data. Where customer details live, how often the same information is typed twice, and which subscriptions overlap.

    Built around your trade

The method is the same for each business. The leaks are not. A plumbing shop loses work between the office and the truck. A dental office loses patients between the cleaning and the next recall. These pages explain what the audit looks at in each trade:

    How the audit works

    1. Interviews. I talk with you for about an hour, then with key team members for 30 to 45 minutes each. I ask each person to walk me through a normal day and a bad day.
    2. Process map. I map how work moves across getting customers, doing the work, and keeping customers, on one page. The map shows where work falls through the cracks.
    3. Road map. You get a written report, an opportunity matrix that ranks each finding by impact and effort, an ROI table built from your own wages and hours, and a phased 90-day road map. We walk through it on a debrief call.

The audit runs five to seven days from the first interview to the debrief call.

    Who the audit fits

The audit is built for owners doing more than $300,000 a year with a team where work passes between people. If two or more people touch a job from first call to final invoice, there are handoffs to map.

It may not fit if you already know your one problem and only need a tool for it. In that case, start with the free Business Leak Score and fix that one thing first.

    Pricing

You know the price before we start. Audit prices are published and based on how many people I interview:

    • Solo: $2,500. Teams of 2 to 3, up to 2 interviews.
    • Team: $5,000. Teams of 4 to 10, up to 5 interviews.
    • Organization: $10,000. Teams of 11 or more, up to 10 interviews.

Additional interviews are $1,000 each. On-site days are quoted separately. See audit pricing.

Software comes only if your road map calls for it. The site lists four plans: AI Website $197/month (a done-for-you site built from your Google Business Profile), Base Camp $297/month (website, CRM, chat, calendar and inbox), Ascent $397/month (adds an AI voice agent that answers and books calls), and Summit $597/month (adds reputation management, review requests, missed call text back and reactivation campaigns). You do not need a plan to buy the audit.

    After the audit

The road map is yours to keep. You can have AI Peak Biz build it, have your team build it while we keep it on track, hand it to another agency, or run it yourself on our plans. Each path starts from the same ranked list.

    Frequently asked questions

What is an AI audit for a small business?

It is a structured review of how work moves through your business, done before you buy AI tools. I interview you and your team, map your processes, and rank what to fix first in a written road map.

How much does the AI Peak Audit cost?

Published prices are Solo $2,500 for teams of 2 to 3, Team $5,000 for teams of 4 to 10, and Organization $10,000 for teams of 11 or more. Additional interviews are $1,000 each.

How long does the audit take?

It runs five to seven days from the first interview to the debrief call.
